Translating a PDF on your device

Translate PDF uses the translator built into Chrome, so your document is never sent anywhere. Here's what it needs.

Last updated October 5, 2026

Most online translators upload your document to their servers. Okaysize uses the translation model built into Chrome instead, which runs on your computer. It works in Chrome 138 or newer on Windows, macOS, Linux, and ChromeOS.

The first time

Chrome downloads each language pair once, which can take a minute. After that, translating is fast and works offline.

In other browsers

Safari, Firefox, and Chrome on phones don't have the built in translator yet. Open the page in Chrome on a computer, or use PDF to Word and translate the text in your word processor.
