How to summarize a PDF

No time to read 40 pages? Here's how to get the key points, without sending the document to an AI company.

  • About 1 minute
  • Free, nothing uploaded
  • 4 steps

Steps

  1. Add your PDF

Drag your PDF onto the box, or click Choose a file. It opens right in your browser. Nothing is uploaded.

  2. Choose the style and length

Under Style, pick Key points or Paragraph. Under Length, pick Short, Medium, or Long.

  3. Click Summarize

In Chrome on a computer, the browser's built in AI writes the summary. Elsewhere, Okaysize picks the document's most important sentences.

  4. Download the result

Click Download to save the summary. The original file is left exactly as it was.

Tips

  • Scanned PDFs need OCR PDF first so there's text to summarize.
  • The first summary in Chrome may take a minute while the AI model downloads; after that it's quick.

Questions

Is the summary accurate?

It's a quick overview. For anything important, check the original: the summary lists what the document covers so you know where to look.

Does it work offline?

Once the page and the AI model are loaded, yes.
