- 5 steps
Steps
Add your PDF
Drag your PDF onto the box, or click Choose a file. It opens right in your browser. Nothing is uploaded.
Type a password twice
Enter it in Password and again in Type it again. 12 or more characters is best.
Choose permissions
Turn off Allow printing or Allow copying text if people who open it shouldn't do those things.
Click Protect PDF
The PDF is encrypted on your device.
Download the result
Click Download to save the protected PDF. The original file is left exactly as it was.
Tips
- Send the password a different way than the file, like a text message instead of the same email.
- Keep the password somewhere safe. Nobody, including Okaysize, can recover it.
Questions
- How strong is the protection?
- The PDF is encrypted with AES 256, the strongest standard PDF encryption. A long password matters most.
- Can I remove the password later?
- Yes, with Unlock PDF, as long as you know the password.
