The options, explained

Fit
Fits inside the size you set, keeping its shape. Nothing is cut off.
Crop to fit
Fills the exact size and trims the edges. Best for profile pictures and banners.
Pad
Exact size, with a Padding color filling the empty space.
Stretch
Exact size, ignoring the shape. Can distort the image.

Tips

  • Need a size for Instagram, YouTube, or LinkedIn? The Resize image page has ready made presets.
  • Making an image smaller in pixels also makes the file much smaller.

Questions

Will resizing make my photo blurry?
Making it smaller stays sharp. Making it much larger than the original can look soft, since detail can't be invented.
How do I keep the same shape?
Use Fit and set only the width, or use Percent.
