  • Why files fail

Exam, scholarship, and job portals often cap certificates and ID scans at 100 KB. One scanned page from a phone is usually 1 to 3 MB.

  • What this preset does

This preset recompresses the scanned images inside the PDF, stepping down only as far as needed to land under 100 KB. Text stays sharp. If the PDF can't get there without becoming unreadable, it says so instead of returning a bad file.

Questions

Can every PDF get under 100 KB?

One or two scanned pages usually can. Longer documents may need splitting first: upload only the pages the form asks for.

Will the scan stay readable?

Yes for normal documents and certificates. Zoom in on the result before you submit, especially small print and stamps.

Why does it aim a little under 100 KB?

Some portals count 1 KB as 1,024 bytes and others as 1,000, so the preset stays under 100 KB either way.

Is my document uploaded?

No. The PDF is compressed on your device and never leaves it.
