How to remove metadata from a PDF
Before you share a PDF, clear the details it keeps about who made it, with what, and when.
- About 1 minute
- Free, nothing uploaded
- 3 steps
Steps
Add your PDF
Drag your PDF onto the box, or click Choose a file. It opens right in your browser. Nothing is uploaded.
Click Remove metadata
The title, author, creator app, dates, XMP data, and photo EXIF are removed. The pages aren't touched.
Download the result
Click Download to save the clean PDF. The original file is left exactly as it was.
Tips
- Rename the file too if its name gives something away. The file name isn't part of the PDF.
- Remove metadata last, after any other edits, because many apps add their own details when they save.
Questions
