How to convert a Word document to PDF

A PDF looks the same on every device and can't be changed by accident. Here's how to make one from a Word document without Word.

  • About 1 minute
  • Free, nothing uploaded
  • 4 steps

Steps

  1. Add your Word document

Drag your Word document onto the box, or click Choose a file. It opens right in your browser. Nothing is uploaded.

  2. Click Convert to PDF

Okaysize reads the document's text, styles, lists, tables, and pictures, and lays them out as PDF pages. Most documents take a few seconds.

  3. Check the preview

The first page shows right under the result. The page count and anything that couldn't come across are listed with it.

  4. Download the result

Click Download to save the PDF. The original file is left exactly as it was.

Tips

  • Have an older .doc file? Open it in Word, Google Docs, or Pages and save it as .docx first.
  • Need the PDF smaller for email? Compress PDF can shrink the pictures inside it.

Questions

Will headers and footers come across?

Not yet. Body text, headings, lists, tables, and pictures do. For headers and footers, use Save as PDF in Word itself.

Why does the font look a little different?

Okaysize uses open fonts that are close matches for the document's fonts, because the original fonts live on the writer's computer.
